A small lesson, with practice

Microlearning timer. Ten minutes for one useful thing.

There is a gap before your next meeting. Choose one shortcut, one phrase, or one worked example. Leave with something you tried, not just something you watched.

One useful thing

A short lesson needs a small enough question.

Stage labels show the default plan. Finish a stage to prepare the next, or Reset to change stages and duration.

Read one worked example or watch one short explanation.

Ready when you are. Nothing starts automatically.

Choose 1–180 whole minutes before starting.

No saved sessions. No effect on your workspace timer. Leaving or reloading clears this clock. Completion is silent.

Small is about the objective

A short video about an enormous topic is still an enormous topic. For this session, choose an outcome you can demonstrate: write one spreadsheet formula, pronounce one sentence, or use one editing shortcut. Have the example and the place to practise ready before pressing Start.

The default ten-minute plan divides your attention between explanation, application, and a brief note. You can change any stage. If the task needs uninterrupted depth, use a longer study block instead of trying to squeeze it into this format.

Do something during the middle three minutes

Close the example and make a small version of your own. Change the numbers in the formula. Say a different sentence using the same structure. Apply the shortcut to a real document. The attempt is where you find out whether the explanation gave you enough to work with.

If it fails, keep the failure specific. “I used the wrong cell reference” is a useful note for next time. “I am bad at spreadsheets” is not a description of what happened in those three minutes.

Connect the small sessions

A collection of unrelated tips can feel busy without adding up to a skill. Keep several short sessions pointed at the same project. Today you learn to filter a table; next time you sort it; later you answer a real question with both. Write your next step somewhere you already keep work notes. This page does not build a curriculum or remember previous lessons.

Before you start

Does microlearning always mean ten minutes?

No. Ten minutes is this page’s starting plan. The important constraint is a focused objective with enough room to practise it. You can adjust each stage from 1 to 180 minutes.

Can this replace a full course?

The timer cannot supply the sequence, feedback, and depth of a course. Use short sessions for a narrow skill, a review, or one part of a larger learning plan.

Does it provide lessons?

No. Bring your own material. The page provides a local timer and a learn–try–keep structure; it does not generate lessons or track progress.
